need RO and have a question

#1
Checking if anyone has a ro/di unit in the parker area. I would like to buy water from you if I can...maybe 10g a week....just checking to see if I can save the 20 min drive to the store every week.

Is the filtered drinking water they sell at home depot/ lowes the same as RO? I know its safe to use but is it as good as RO?

I am in Parker, and can help you out when you get into a bind (for free). But please use me for emergencies only. As crazy as it sounds, I just don't have enough time to commit to a weekly thing like that.

BTW - I got rid of my last tank 5 years ago, because I felt too bothered adding a gal of water every night to the tank. I stopped doing water changes, and the tank still thrived. I just didn't want to deal with adding fresh water on a daily basis. (This was before ATO's).

As far as the home depot water goes, if they have distilled, you should be good. I have used distilled water in the past too. -- I do have a TDS meter. If you buy some, we can test it to see how clean it is.

Thanks all for the offers....I have looked into units, just don't want to spend the money on one yet.....I might take you up on the offer and have you test the water from hd if you don't mind.

Not a problem. Shoot me a PM when you're ready, and we can figure a time that works for both of us.

are there any ro/di units I can hook right up to the tap?

I live in an aptmt and can't mess with the plumming
Yes you can get an adapter that will allow you to plug it directly into the tap, however it is easier to add a 3-way between the cold water valve and the hose that runs to the tap. I run the waste water back up to the sink drain. There is no way the apartment will know you messed with the pluming if you remove the 3-way when you move the RO/DI unit. When I used the tap adapter I kept having to install and remove it when I wanted to make water. The way I have it now, I just turn on a few valves and I get water.

BTW. If you are not going to watch it the whole time you might want to invest in the ATO system with the automatic shutoff valve that BRS sells. This way you can setup a bucket. The best way to do it is to add the ATO valve to the lid that way you can move the lid between buckets. I personally made a bucket with the valve into the side and a large bulkhead at the bottom, so I can fill my smaller ATO system container, however I only needed 2 gallons every 3 days.

When you swing by for me to test your water, I can show you how easy they are to install, then un-install if necessary.
