I have had nothing but bad luck with CBs. 3 in the past 2 years. They are very, very touchy IMO. I would find out exactly what the LFS was feeding and try to get it directly to her area somehow.

Deep breaths. They are shy, mellow fish. When I introduced min a few months ago the regal angel gave it hell. It stayed in the same corner for a week--after dark it would roam a bit, but if the angel saw it it would dart back to the upper left corner of a large tank. But . . . eventually it all worked out.

I would suggest: if you have a LR sump or any pieces of LR that have an abundance of small feather worms, it will eat those all day long (your tank will no longer have any fan worms of any kind, btw) and this can help sustain it through the transition. I took a large rock and set it in the corner where it was feeling trapped; that helped because it gave it another place to hide and some live fresh food.

Also: when you feed, perhaps turn off the pumps so that the food is not blown all over. Then, you can feed 3/4 of your food on the far side of tank where the inhabitants are used to fighting and fending for themselves. After a minute or so, give them another little dose and then the rest on the side with the CBB. Without the pumps it won't have to chase it all over and roam from its comfortable haven.

In the end, it just takes time. If she was healthy to begin with, she will weather it ok--she won't starve in a few days (or even a week). Good luck and keep us posted.

Wow, sounds exactly what I just went through with a new CB from my LFS! All my other fish, nems, and (beginner) corals are doing awesome, then I buy one CB which they said was eating great at the store. It was wandering around for one day, no other fish were picking on it or chasing it, nothing looked weird. Then it only hid behind rocks the second day, then dead the third day. I was so sad! All the other fish/nems are still super active happy, and no other probs in the tank.

I just don't get it... :( I think this experience has turned me off to even trying CB's anymore, just feel bad that it died, not worth the gamble to me.
