Nice EVO LED writeup and video on Reefbuilders

Chris, it seems that red leds are becoming available to all the high end fixtures now, I have also heard people say that color can promote algae growth, can you weigh in on your thoughts and reasoning for adding that color to your lights? Nice write up and lights by the way.

I think that the reds and greens in the quantity that are there will not be stong enough to promote algae growth. Just enought to enhance the colors.
Nice review for you Chris.

Ok that makes sense, and after watching the video I see how nicely they blend in with the blues and whites

Hats off to Chris for this review! Awesome stuff!
I have three 150 watt units over my 180 that I purchased from Chris a couple of months ago. I believe I had one of the first units with the green and red lights included. I have nothing but glowing reviews of Chris and the Evos. The lights have not contributed to any algae growth and my tank really is thriving. In my opinion, the more colors is a good thing. More colors of the spectrum. I love the lights and I love that Chris is a short distance away if anything goes wrong. Chris is top-notch and so are his corals and lights. I would not hesitate to recommend these to anyone thinking of making the LED switch.

I made the LED switch about 2 years ago, just looking to upgrade to more light in the coming months hopefully, these with the control panel hes talking about releasing are exactly what I want.

Yeah if you built a fixture with a lot of reds (like my evo grow light ;) the. You would have algae problems but honestly algae will grow where there is fuel and a couple reds and green simply round out the spectrum and maybe bring out a few colors as a bonus :).
I'm going to try to offer the control panel as a retro fit to earlier models that do t have it. It will require mods to the housing but shouldn't break the bank. Ill know more in the next few weeks
