Today I got ****ed off at my LifeReef skimmer and decided to replace it. Went to Aquatic Art and bought a Nyos Quantum 160 from Cris. Got it up and running and mostly tuned. Over the coming weeks, I'll keep this thread up to date with its/my progress.

The 160 is rated from 250L-1000L and should be big enough for my 150G DT.

Occasionally yes. However the most trouble I've had with it were getting its internal siphon stable upon restart. Had a power flicker yesterday morning and it overflowed again.

I had to run it outside the sump so overflows make a mess. Otherwise it works well.

The quantum is working well. Cleaning the cup every 3 days with the current (relatively light) bio load. One feature I miss about the lifereef was the connection to the cup for air. It made a major difference on skimmer smell.

Either way, it's up and running and started skimming 2 days in. Since it's roughly 2 weeks old now it should be fully broken in and running at capacity.
