Ok so I bought this frag a couple of weeks ago. With in a few days all the green was gone and the frag was completely red. I get home this afternoon and it's green... It had a bit of red on it then the current blew it off and a fish ate the floating red debris. Is this normal? Polyps haven't ever come out that I could see since I got it. The only recent change is it went from LED lights to T5HO and it's only been one night, not even 24 hours yet. Water is good levels. Feedback please.

I'm thinking it wasn't alive when I got it but who knows maybe it's just going through something personal lol

I can still see some polyps in the photo. I would give it a chance. It will turn all white if it completely dies.

that sucks it died. The seller clipped it in front of me, I brought it home. Stuck it to a rock and did a coral dip in coral rx. The seller said he would replace it a few days ago if it didn't make it. I'm bummed though it was a nice piece. It didn't last a week, I waited 2 weeks hoping it would come around. I have 25 other types of coral and none are doing bad just this one.

salinity 1.024 nitrate 0 nitrite 0 ammonia 0 PH 8.4 calcium 430ish. That's all I can test for. I have digi, tort, psammacora if that one is sps but those are fine

Sometimes clippings just don't make it as well. I making large amount of frags on average I probably lose 5% of them and some corals are more sensative then others as well.

yeah and I understand I guess this is my first loss in my saltwater journey and I'm a bit bummed. Plus the seller was way nice and he said he's never lost one before. Could it have been the order I did things? Glued the frag to the rock then dipped? idk just a shame. It was so pretty when I first got it.

When u put a new frag in your tank always remember to put it in a less lit area and gradually increase brightness. IMO, too much light, more often than not is what kills frags. I always shoot for the most dimly lit areas of my tank for the first few days regardless of the conditions that were in the sellers tank. Also just know that this is a brutal hobby, u will lose some. Lol try not to lose sleep over it.

i purchased a Blue Cali tort once and it was clipped off of the mother then i brought it home and the next morning it was dead. my thought was that it died from the stress from being fragged and not allowed time to heal before changing water conditions

plus 1 on healed frags, do much better. also for sps your alk. is every bit as important as your cal. and many corals hate swings

How long did it last from the time it was clipped to the time it died? The fact that you don't know what the alk is in your tank indicates that you may have an issue keeping acros.

+1 to Alkalinity being VERY important to SPS.
Magnesium is also a very important and overlooked parameter when keeping more delicate and advanced corals.
