I would test it. Mix a fresh batch and then test. Wait a week and test again. I know some people doing that were having issues with the alk droping off in just a few days with salinity.
Ok. Thanks for the help everybody

I used to use salinity a few years ago and noticed when I got to the bottom of the bucket, the alk was lower than batches mixed from to top of the bucket. Some claimed it was from settling of salts from shipping. Ever since I always roll my buckets before opening. Ive never seen alk drop in a batch I've mixed as there is nothing that can use up the minerals. If there was a drop, it would be caused by poor testing.

Seachem actually confirmed the potential for an alk drop when mixing salinity. The minerals aren't used up...but they can and do precipitate with too much agitation over an extended time.

Here's the direct link

http://www.aquavitro.com/support.html#salinity

Since it's a pH drop due to CO2 introduction...I started pointing the powerhead at the bottom of my mixing bucket and also keep a lid on it...haven't had an issue since, but I still use the salt within 24hrs to be safe. Previously I had a submersible pump pushing the water upward from the bottom of the bucket without a lid...I would lose 2 dkh over 3 days.

I think it varies depending on how you mix the salt. An MJ1200 in my 5gal bucket was obviously over-agitating the salt mix and causing precipitation.
