All he is doing is propagation of an anemone. Maybe making some for sale or giving away to fellow reefers. Sometimes anemones won't split. I have a lta about the size of a dinner plate that probably has no intention of splitting. The only thing I would say to do different would be to use a long razor/scalpel. Sure beats getting anymore anemones from the ocean than we have to

Just feed the neme silversides. It will split. No need to risk infection or death by cutting it

My buddy does this all the time with no issues. Cuts em right in two. He has made 13 Sunburst BTAs inside just a few months and I dont believe hes lost a single one from doing this. He tells me however you need a very sharp knife or scalpel for the cleanest quickest cut possible.

Really?

Seen this done 100s of times with no issue... Just was at a house with 8 sunburst that were all cut from a mother, it's just another method of propagation. If you do water changes to the point your nem splits you ate shifting parameters for the whole tank in order for the nem to split??? Seems more risky then a pair of scissors to me, I fed my nem silversides three times a week and it never split.... Just my opinion

Re: Really?

Butcher knives work great as long as they are sharp. Be sure to dip the nem in an iodine solution to help the healing process. Propagating nems are like propagating mushrooms. Easy if you take precautions.

I've fed mine silversides and shrimp and couldn't get it to split. I don't think I've ever witnessed a bubbletip anemone dying with this method, I'm sure it's happened but I've never seen it.
