Does anyone have an opinion on the best brand of heater? I am planning on running 2 heaters connected to Apex Controller for my 120g build. Looking for suggestions on wattage and reliability experience.

Reliable Heaters?

Plus 1 o. Controller. I have 2 200 waters on my 120 with each plugged into a different pc4 reefkeeper. Underpowered if 1 goes wacko.

I wouldnt touch anything other than a Titanium heater on a controller. I run a 100w ViaAqua Titanium heater connected to my Reef Keeper Lite on my 22g nano.

You can do JBJ Titanium or Aqua Medics Titanium. I would recommend 2x300watts for the 120. Both work nicely.

Not sure there is such thing as a "reliable" heater. Ehiem Jager is always good but I still wouldn't run any heater without a quality controller.

Ehiem Jager on a controller. Titaniums don't offer that extra thermostat if your controller or probe fails, but you can control a controller.

I would not go too much wattage. A 1000w titanium heater can raise the temp in my 240 about 2 degrees an hour which can bake a tank overnight. A 500w heater can raise it like .5 degrees and anything out of whack has more opportunity to be caught.

I have a standard 120 and I use a pair of 300W Eheim Jagers on a Ranco dual phase. One is set just below the controller and comes on the most. The other is set like 1 degree below the controller and will come on only if needed.

Simple answer. None.

Even if you get the best heater, it will fail eventually. Like Charlie said, put your money in a controller for the heater.
