just got a new 20g tank and Im going rimless. I got the plastic rim off, but the silicon is proving to be quite a challenge. I scraped one side clean so far, and got 99% of the residue off, only to find the glass is all scratched up now. Any tips or tricks to getting this stuff off without runinig the glass?

I usually use a hot water and vinegar mix with a soap-free scrubbing pad. Takes a little elbow grease...but works without scratching the glass.

Are you using winded while scrapping? Also keep using fresh razor blades even if you think they are still sharp. Also always keep the blade flat against the glass. I just cleaned an entire 40 breeder without scratching it. Also used about 15 razor blades. You can get a pack of 50 for 7$ at lowes or hd.

Yep acetone makes the silicone super soft and also should be used to clean the glass before laying new silicone to remove any oils from your skin.
