Ok for mixing water, and storing if needed? I'm seeing yes and no across various forums.

Any consensus?

I use them and have them in a variety of colors. I see no problems.

Just look up the craigslist guy. There is a guy on there that sells 55 and 30 gallon food grade barrels for less than a rubbermaid, but have a tight sealing lid (I got a 30g with a lid for $15) . Some of them need a heavy cleaning, but they are worth the time.

I have a grey one used for moving from my 90 to my 150. Everything survived happily. The grey ones are food grade but I'm not sure about the others.

The lids do suck though. I'll probably hit up the CL guy when I go to build my mixing station...or another container from plasticmart.com.

Ironic, I just got back from Lowes to get a set of wheels for my SW mixing trash can.
The can actually locks into the base, it's pretty sweet.

Those are pretty nice. I use them on my 32 gallon ones which the inside lip is 25 gallons. Makes it pretty easy to roll one up pump it out roll up my fresh salt and pump it in.
