woke this morning to find after swapping everything to the big tank last night that my sand star was dead oddly enough there was a ball of goo near him the size of a small net so i killed the pumps and fished the body and the goo i figured i didnt want to spread it all over anyone seen this ball of goo before did i get lucky and all the toxins they spit when they die coagulated into a ball and i got most of it its gross pretty much filled my small net and looks like a big ole chunk of detritus in the middle

what do i watch for i just got to the point where i dont have to check my levels every day looks like im back to that

I'd suggest watching for punctuation and run a bag of carbon. Any idea what your nitrates are at?

Haha, watch for punctuation... classic! Agreed, run carbon! Did you just move critters from one established tank to another or did you move all contents to a new tank?

Yes... and when you say stable for a week you mean newly cycled a week ago?

If either tank had a deep sand bed or any sort of depth to it, it could have contained toxic gas pockets that may have been disturbed. I run a 6" DSB and any time I move rocks or disturb the sand too much it releases nasties into the tank. A sand dwelling star may have been caught in some of that. Just a possibility.
