Skimmer pump problem.

Have an OTP 1000 I think on a skimmer. Been great but recently got clogged up with some chaeto because of my temporary tank setup from the move.

I need to dig it out and try to clean it out again as a few more strands got sucked up. Problem is even when I had them all cleaned out (I think) I was getting a little less than what I recall the usual strength being. After more got sucked in. It's swirling water in the bottom of cylinder and getting some bubbles in but not enough to be skimming at all.

If I can't find any more actual blockage of sorts. Any ideas on whether it's a simple shaft/impeller problem or maybe the pump itself is ate up?

Check the venturi and air line - they can sometimes get clogged and or full of salt creep.

You should be able to see the pump pumping lots of water in a bucket while detached from the skimmer.

When most impellers and shafts go bad, they either stop or make a big-time ruckus.
