Oh yeah, choco chips are known coralivors, and emeralds have been known to pick what ever off the reef.
My emerald make quick work of an expensive purple hammer, an entire long tentacle plate coral and my torch....I will only use those crabs on a temp basis for spot bubble algae elimination but never as a permanent resident....not anymore after that expensive mistake~! Hope you didnt lose anything too expensive or special! GL

Most emerald crabs wont eat zoas but will pull them off of what they are attached to so they can get to algae.

They definitely are determined to get at whatever algae they see and will dislodge anything and everything to get at it. They also smell death pretty quickly and will dive right in for an expensive treat....reef safe or not...the emeralds will finish off something that shows any weakness imao.

The starfish was sold to me as a red spiny. When I got him I was pretty much FOWLR. But I do remember another customer warning me about his troubles with them in his tank, but I was so new then, I really didn't understand him. I've had the starfish since my original tank (almost 2 years now!) the emeralds came along when I had a bubble algae outbreak about 9 months ago, and seemed ok after that so I left them in as well. There is still another emerald somewhere in the tank...
So far confirmed kills are my alpha omegas and my incredible hulks. Fire and ice, eagle eyes opened up first thing this morning on the frag rack, still have several polyps of each. I hope it was the starfish and emerald, but I'll be ever vigilant today, as I've always rode the line with "reef safe" animals (Koran and coral beauty angel, Niger trigger, lunar wrasse) and see if there's a problem there as well...
Jack I have a few hundred eagel eyes if you want some.

I appreciate everyone's kindness!!! This weekend I'll be removing a lot of rock, getting the koran angel and the other emerald out, and doing a little re aquascaping. I hope that takes care of all the problems!! And I'll look for your coming DBTCs from all of you!!
BTW, the angel is for sale or trade over in the classified section if anyone is interested!!
