Sump lighting

Has anyone used a par38 bulb on there sumps. I am using a 100w cfl light now but i picked up some new par 38 bulbs in a deal and wanted to know if they would work good on my sump. I have cheato and red dragon breath in sump

Worked great on mine. I used a 4.7k and it would grow cheato from a baseball sized to a full sump (14" X 14" X 6") in a week or two.

I run it opposite of my dt so 12 i am guessing

How long do u run your sump light?

I ran mine opposite my display lights, so 14 hours a day in winter and 10 hours a day in summer. The bulb I used was a 200 W equivalent from home depot.

Can you pick up the par38 at home depot? I was running a 75 watt 5000k led flood light and it didn't do much for me.

I guess some of my numbers were wrong. It was a 2700k, 120w equivalent. It's discontinued now, but this was it.

This one would is very close and should do the trick just as well.
