Anyone use grow light fixtures with reef lights over their reef? Any reason it wont work?

They are the exact same thing as long as you put reef bulbs in them.

I think people have used them before but don't use them as much in our hobby because they are not as aesthetically pleasing as the ones we can buy in this hobby.

Just thought of something though. Some grow lights have a wide angle reflector to make more of a square light pattern 36-48" down. If yours happens to be one like that, you will get less par than a narrow angle reef fixture.
