Toning down an LED

With a non dimmable LED how would you cut the light? Layers of screens? Would that be a lasting tool if I only need 50% tops? Can I open up the unit and solder in a controller?

That wouldn't be an option in this build, I've got a cramped space that must meet the wife's asthetic requirements. I'm looking for a type of screen I can put on the plexiglass or a kit I can mod to turn it down. Its crazy there isn't something, I am going to talk to my electrician neighbor and post what I find out.

Yeah thats what I want to do, I looked online and couldnt find a product to just solder in. Any suggestions on products or a website.

I'm not sure, but I know they exist. Jahmic put one into a Chinese 120 watt panel a while back, I'd pm him
