Seems like an appropriate time to ask this question. Ive heard you should run as hot of water as you can take over a veneomous sting from a fish, to stop/reduce its effects. So is this true? And does that apply to stinging coral as well?
Animal toxins are made of proteins and hot water will begin to break down the proteins. If you use very hot water immediately for as long as you can stand it, it'll work well on stings from lionfish, urchins and such. Also ammonia and baking soda (ether or both for best results) will work on stings from anemone's and other animals that will sting.
