I thought I would pass on my experiencing using Bayer Advanced with Germ Killer as a dip for a RedBug infestation.

First of all, the CMA's: THIS IS A DIP ONLY, DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT USING IT AS A FULL TANK TREATMENT, AS I UNDERSTAND IT, THIS WILL KILL ANYTHING WITH A NERVOUS SYSTEM, SO PRETTY MUCH EVERYTHING THAT MOVES AROUND IN YOUR TANK.

I got most of my info from this THREAD, I suggest reading the whole thing to see what concentration other's have dipped at, and deciding what you personally want to do.

Some have dipped very concentrated, and others very weak, it seems successful either way, but the corals vary in reaction.

I used this product: Bayer Advanced with Germ Killer
SodiumO-phenylphenate... 0.30%
ß-cyfluthrin ..................... 0.05%
Other Ingredients .......... 99.65%

You can get it just about anywhere, HD, Lowes, ACE, WalMart, etc...

Others have used a different Bayer Advanced, read the thread and decide, I got the Germ Killer one because it was cheaper and seemed to work just as well.

To make the dip, I used a syringe to put 2mL of the Bayer in 6 cups of Tank Water

Then I put the corals in for 15mins. I watched them closely at first, and you can definitely see the bugs falling off. I also got 4-5 flatworms, luckily no AEFW. After 15mins, I swirled them around a bit to shake off any bodies.

Then I did a 15min dip in Fresh Tank Water, no Bayer, as a Rinse

After 15mins, right back to where they were in the tank.

Corals didn't care at all, RedBugs all Gone 7 days Later, we'll see if the corals fully recover.

Yeah, I saw that. The "gurus" on WWM also have that opinion.

In my case though, the Acros were clearly suffering. Who knows if it was actually the bugs...but at lease I felt good doing something!

Do you still have red bugs. I have a dip/treatment I thought of trying when I had them, but nuked them with interceptor, and that was the end of my issue. If I can get some, I may try it for the science project, but need to do it quick.
