I never heard him say they were spiral shaped, where did you get that from? I think you need to reread this thread, nowhere in here does it say anything about a spiral shape.

Well now if he would have said that they were, in fact, spiral shaped why would I have asked if they were. So apparently I didn't get it from anything that Ryan has stated....

OK then I'm wondering where you got it from when he gave a clear description:::

There are these white, seemingly stationary, things on the glass in my aquarium. They do not move and appear to be stuck to the glass...meaning when I take a finger nail to them they sort of pop off. They are about the size of a head of a pin and appear to be multiplying, Without actually moving. They barely rise off the glass, meaning there isn't much of a bump that they make. I'm working on a pic but honestly, I can't get a good shot...too small. When looking at them from the bottom, it appears like they have a shell, but are again nearly flush to the glass, but you can see a change in color to what I believe would be their flesh in the center.

Ok been doing some googling and I believe I have nerite snails...they're smallish, and very round and have interesting color patterns on their shells...anyway, someone described their eggs as white sesame seeds on the glass...that is exactly what they look like. I have what I believe are nerites and astreas but no other snails that I have knowingly out in my tank. Again these things don't move at all. So I'm assuming its some sort of egg.

I guess im just wondering how with (no offense) a crappie picture you can be so sure they are tube worms, i have not seen a single thing in this thread to even remotly believe that it is a tube worm.

Honestly you would have to see a spirobid to know why I think that's what it is. They look like a sesame seed on the glass. He had mentioned in the very first post that it looked as if they had a shell. The worms have a shell. The pics you had were of big ones. But you're right. I can't honestly say for sure with seeing them in person

I have tons of them in my sump, some the size of a grain of sand and they are nowhere near flat or smooth. They feel more like a baby snail than the outside of a pea. Just my .02 I guess i just felt like debating tonight:)

Hopefully from those images ryan can make a fairly good Id or at least determine if they are one or the other.
