White spots on lemonpeal tang Help!!

#1
Hey guys my lemonpeal tang in the 90 has the tiny white spots all over body. These spots are no bigger a grain of sand. Is my worst fear of ich realized???

Those are really big spots for ich. Typically ich coats a fish in patches instead of spread out nodules. I would lean more towards a bad outbreak of lymphocystis but its hard to tell. If some spots are bigger than others, lympho. If they are uniform in size, ich. If the spots get bigger, lympho, stay the same size over a couple days, ich. I do agree with Craig though, had to tell with the pics.

I honestly don't even think its lympho... man I dont know with those pics. Lympho tends to only show up in one or 2 spots on a fish.
That's what I was thinking lupho is usually larger and fewer spots. I think the whits just catching the light just right In the pic and its ick

I think one more night won't. Hurt the sooner you diagnose it the better

Whatever it is its already in your system. I am of the school of thought not to go ripping apart your tank, stressing out your fish when the spots are visible on the fish. Feed well, properly diagnose and get a plan of action going before taking drastic measures which could do more harm then good.

No other fish have any spots except one of my black clowns with one spot at the end of his back fin so I didn't know whether they are related. As for his behavior he seems completely normal nothing out of the ordinary.

If it is ICH, there is no sense in removing the fish from the tank. It is already there and so treat the entire system. In the past, I have had good luck with some of the various non copper based meds and adding "garlic extreme" or another garlic extract product to the fishes food. I had a purple tang and a powder blue that looked like someone dipped them in salt. I treated the system for about 2 months and for the next 2 years, till I tore down the tank, I never had another issue with ich. Hopefully everything works out!

Marine velvet has been a BIG problem with many tanks including ours.it comes on strong and kills fast. Read about it. Things I have noticed is rapid head shaking, flashing and sitting in front of flow pumps. If this was behavior that you have seen in your fish look at velvet. Good luck.
