I have used both Cree and Chinese LED's and have had great success with both. The Cree are VERY bright and, IMO, can be too intense for many tanks. My Cree fixture is usually turned down to about 30%. My Chinese LED's on the other hand can be turned all the way up and not have to worry about burning the corals. I think that the LED's on aquastyleonline.com are a good choice if you don't want to spend the money on Crees. Just be sure to upgrade from the cheap Chinese drivers to the Meanwell drivers. I have had nothing but trouble with the Chinese drivers that I have used. You are wilcome to come and check out my builds anytime. I currently have three. one with Cree, one with chinese 3W, and one with Chinese 50W.

Ok I looked at the site. Is the DIY hard? I am not very handy and what would I buy for a 46 Bow Front. Sorry I am very visual. Tell me everything I would need. If you could.

DIY LED is Very easy. I would go with either the 24 or 36 Dimmable kit. I would also call or email them about getting a couple of different colors with it. For instance I would do something like:

12 10K White
12 Royal Blue
6 Blue
3 Violet
3 6500k White
=36 total LED's

The only other things you would need are a heatsink, wire, and thermal adhesive. You can get the heatsink from aquastyle or from rapidled. Use the thermal adhesive to attach the LED's to the heatsink, unless you get one that it drilled from Rapidled, then you just want to use the included screws and some thermal paste. If you go with 36 LED's you will need another driver and you can get those for about $33. Each driver will safely run 12-14 LED's.

I would be happy to help you with the build if you need. I have a soldering iron and solder and, as I said, I have done a number of builds.
