Wtb sand

Hey, I didn't mean to sound defensive or attack you. I was just curious. I personally don't care much for the look of CC in a DT; I like black sand.

If its going in the fuge your g2g. Easier to vacuum it out without pulling anything with it!

Re: Wtb sand

When you clean it you should suck all the nasty stuff out every few months.

That depends. If you are doing a true deep sand bed, then you don't want to touch it. You can maybe vacuum the top 1" or so, but if you go further you'll release some nasty stuff into your tank.

Wtb sand

Eek!! Don't do cc in a DSB fuge!! I tried it, it almost crashed my tank!! It traps a TON of Detrus and gets this really nasty sludge after about a month.

Re: Wtb sand

Sorry man. I tried it once. Never had an issue but I have no experience long term.

Oh it's all good the guys at my fish store just explained that with the sand is better because I can just throw snails in there and it will take care of its self compared to the cc where I would have to vacuum and stir it up often so it won't shoot off nitrates so I want to make sure I dont have random things producing stuff I don't want in the tank
