Anyone got a small tank 2-7.5 gals for sale or free? :) Trying to outfit a small tank into a refugium in my stand. What about a return pump? How large would I need?

I have a 2.5 gallon custom sump/fuge that was in use on my pico until recently. You can have it for free, you just have to come get it.

13 Wide X 7 Deep X 8 Tall. Now the tall can be higher, I just thought that was a good number. What were you thinking Dillion?

Thanks Craig. Might go by tomorrow.

It is 12" wide x 6.25" deep x 8.25" tall. Here are a few pics. The first two were taken when I first set up the tank about 6 months ago. The last two are of the same setup on another pico that I have. The one I am offering you is exactly yhe same as the one in the last pictures. I need to clean it out so I don't currently have any pics of it.

I honestly Don't remember what pump I was using with this sump. I can tell you that I am currently using a ViaAqua VA-1300 in the one I have on my other pico. It is rated at 370 GPH with a max head of 6 feet.

As a general rule, you want to turn over the entire water volume about 6-10 times per hour. Following this rule, for a 30 gallon tank you would want 300 GPH. Keep in mind that the flow will be reduced by elbows and vertical head height. If a pump says that it provides 300 GPH with a max head of 6 feet, and you have 2 feet of head, you can plan on the flow being reduced considerably, say to about 225 gallons.

I say in general, because the flow will also depend on the dimensions of the tank and the inhabitants. SPS will require more flow while LPS and softies may require less. I would stick with the 6-10 times flow rate and get powerheads or Vortec pumps to supply the remaining flow.

If it was to tall you could cut a few inches off the top but with it being to deep you dont realy have any options.
