One is a CCF back washing carbon tank but I had it custom built by a local company (WaterWorks) specifically for chloramine. The other is also customs built but is essentially a water softener geared more for removing the ammonia cat ion left over from the chloramine, as well as other crap.

Actually I looked at the one on Buckey Hydro. What I have is a bit different. The unit I'm using a computer controlled system which does do back washing like theirs but also uses catalytic GAC (theirs does not) which gets automatically recharged with O2 as needed. The ones I saw on Buckeye Hydro (unless I missed something) are only effective with water supplies that use straight Chlorine but not effective long term for Chloramine.

Still Pulling some nasty skimmate from the live rock but seeing progress. The smell is starting to get better and the is not quite as nasty. I think its about time for another water change. I'm hoping the curing will be done within the next month or so.

Looks like the Rubbermaid was big enough
Oh Yeah plenty big! Thanks again for letting me use it.

Took a few pics of some of the rock I have collected and recently purchased despite alot of it getting broken in shipping there are still some pretty choice pieces and I guess I'll just have to epoxy/ziptie some of them back together

Ive already cut the bottoms off some of the piece so they will sit in the orientation they will look best and provide some ledges hard too tell from these pics though.

There are a few pieces that are really pretty cool this one has some nice caves and looks as though it formed around a pipe or something at one time.

Lots of carnage like this. I know based on some of the other pieces that there was some really nice looking stuff shipped before it was pulverized by FedEx

This will be a really nice show piece. Ive had this one for awhile in my sump now for nearly a year.

Lots of other fiji Ive had fr a while which is more boulderish but it will make for nice base rock. Ive also got some double edge cut marco for under the same foundation if needed. I think I should be set on my rock.

So I decided my water change station wasn't going to cut it anymore with having two other tanks to maintain as well. I built the biggest water change station I could fit through the doorway. I was planning on doing some aquascaping this weekend but alas the brand new Reeflo Dart I put on my mixing station has a leaky seal. I'm so ****ed! I hope Reeflo takes care of me on this.

Wow. Great plan, great execution and documentation. Not sure how I missed this a year ago but i wish I didn"t. Following along for sure. Love the sump room. Any plans on a controller for this beast of a set-up?

Nice water station for sure. I am trying to figure/find a contraption for the apex to weigh my salt and dump it into my sw mix tank right now. Where did you get the 160's, what is the circumference, and how much were they if you dont mind me asking.

Thank you for having us along on your build adventue.

Thanks! If all goes well it will be aquascaped next weekend. I got a GHL Profilux 3 with all the goodies for the controller and will most lily run a barebones apex as backup and for some other monitoring purposes.

i got the tanks locally at a company in Frederick called Tank Equipment. They were not the cheapest to start but I haggled with them and got them to match the cheapest online price I could for this specific tank witch was the only 28" diameter vertical tank I could find that holds at least 150 gallons. Oh and that was in stock and didn't have a two month lead time. My basement door is 28.5" wide so this these tanks were perfect. They are about 6'tall.

i paid $304 each and that included schedule 80 2" bulkhead fittings.

This is a historic day for me. As some of you know I have been working on this build for more than 4 years. Last night I finally started filling it with water. Unfortunately the fill is super slow. The stupid Reeflo pump I got for mixing my salt is still inoperable. So far Reeflo has been very helpful but I cant believe how many things are wrong with this pump right out of the box. I seriously doubt Ill ever buy another one.

I should have the tank aqua-scaped by next weekend. After that I'll ill probably just let the tank cycle for the next 3 months or so while I finish up the rest of the build.

Wish I had thought about it sooner I have a dart and snapper just laying around right now. The snapper is in my garage if you want to borrow it.

I really wish I had gone 30" tall with this tank. I feel like its going to be a little shallow for what i ideally want.

Well better tear down down and start over!!
