Looking to borrow one to test the new led setup when it comes in. Thought the club has one...but not sure. Dont mind putting down a deposit. Or if anyone has one and wouldnt mind coming over to help me...not sure how to work one as i have never even seen one in person. Lol

DARC has a par meter, they dont have an official site they have a club forum on RC. If you ping one of them on there they will loan it out. You just have to leave a check in the event you dont return it.

The guy who usually has it is just up the road from where we are.

I have DARC's at the moment to test my LED's. I can let you know when I return it to DARC.

That might be something we could all pitch in and have a club one. I would pitch in.

how come DARC has one and MASC doesnt? Is it because of the membership fees that DARC charges?

I think that the PAR meter actually belongs to Dave. He founded DARC and therefore the meter kind of just became the clubs. I borrowed it from him a few months ago and he told me his whole lifes story. He lives in Aurora near Buckley and Quincy and the deposit is $250. I am hoping to get a PAR meter soon and would be more than happy to do the same sort of thing for MASC members. I will let eveyone know when I get it.

Lol...who cares how they got it. I want one...and it would still be nice for the club to have one. I will donate $30...if anyone else wants to let me know. I dont mind fronting the money to get one for the club.

Why would it require a vote? If members or non members want to donate and then give it to the club. Stupid politics always getting in the way. IMO.

Actually, we bought the PAR meter with club funds. It belongs to the club and we make it available to folks who want to borrow it. We have two methods to keep in contact with folks, other then e-mail. Our RC forum and our Facebook page. No need to duplicate the already very active forums here and on SCMAS.

As well as discounts with ReefGeek, Fosters & Smith, LiveAquaria, Marine Depot and a few others. :)

I just completed a $2000 group buy with Fosters & Smith Aquatics for several folks.... both DARC and MASC members. If my garage floods there's enough salt out there to turn it into the Red Sea.

Sure.... send an e-mail to d.a.r.c@comcast.net and Dave will put you on the list. I think it's currently out and I saw one other request come in recently. Where's Heston when you need him? :)
