ATO options...your opinion?

I've been using the JBJ auto top off for several months now and have had numerous problems with it. Mostly, it just shuts itself off at odd times and then the tank evaporates and doesn't get any freshwater when I'm gone. Hasn't ever overflowed on me, but it's been a constant hassle to get working properly lately. I don't trust this thing at all if I'm away from the tank.

Wish I had spent a bit more and got the Tunze....

Hmmm...Tunze...must look at this.
Actually I have fixed the failed timer, and have, for now, gone back to my timer system. But based on all the above input (thank you all!) I am thinking of buying the tunze osmolator and try to mod it to control a solenoid valve right off the RO unit...as opposed to the pump....I hope I can do that anyway...
Ultimately I also want to have a high-water-in-the-sump sensor that sets off a claxon on my cell phone. :)

It sounds like either the water level in your sump ripples where the in-sump sensor is, or you have a defective unit. If defective, can you return or warranty claim? While JBJs are far from failsafe, your experience is uncommon.

I would strongly advise against having an RODI on all the time. I had a filter housing crack and put a good amount of water in my basement. And that was only running it 24 hours at time to fill my ato reservoir. You could minimize the risk by putting a solenoid ahead of the rodi, but still risky. Just my thoughts.
