hmmmm...tough to tell but the chitons that I've seen didn't have that large a mantle.
reminds me of some type of scutus. Can you see the shell? Is it segmented?

yessir, I get some really cool colored ones, orange, blue, purple, variable browns greys, and tans, white and black.

Looks like a chiton to me. I had hundreds of them in my old 36 gal.
