The usb adapter is for programming. it isn't required, but it can make it much easier not to mention it helps update the firmware on each device. The PC4 is the power strip that you can use to turn things on and off. So if the temps hit a predetermined mark, the system can first turn off heaters or lights and the heat goes higher it can turn on fans or chillers.

I would love one, but am broke. Hope you get your car figured out. My brother had Mercury Cougar a few years back that had electrical issues. Sometimes when you would roll the passenger window down, the alarm would start going off while you were driving down the road. So at least you dont have that issue!
