so i have had my mandarin for about 4 months and he is just getting to skinny. i have trained him to eat frozen food such as frozen brine, mysis, plankton, Cyclops out of a syringe with airlline tubing so i can put the food right to him. It just isnt enough hes getting fairly skinny and my 55 gallon with 20L sumo just isnt enough for the amount of pods he needs. If anyone is looking for a mandarin that has a mature and good sized tank with lots of pods you are welcome to have him. I just dont want to see him die.

Where are you located?
x2...and what type of mandarin? How large is it? We've had really good luck with our spotted mandy. We dose pods though when needed, he's keeps up the winter weight though. ;) I'll (my better half more so) take second in line if 303 called dibs.

yea he does still eat frozen food it just isnt enough to keep him fat i dont have enough pods, the frozen is like a snack for him. i have a royal gramma, 1 soon to be 2 ocellaris clowns and a blue/green chromi. i am located in castle rock. He is a green mandarin and i would say hes about 2 - 2 1/2 inches long.

when you say you dose pods, are they live? Where do you get em?
They are live. I got some from Elite a good while back that were Tigger pods. I learned though, that Tigger pods usually just get eaten up in the water column and don't propagate. Elite had a smaller bottle a month or two ago that were actually an assortment of pods that would propagate. I went with those. I'll probably have to order some soon from reefcleaners unless a sponsor sells pods that propagate.

Also like I said he is trained to eat frozen just attach some airline to a syringe and put it so he can see it and he will come right up to it to eat.
