Not trying to be a downer by posting this link below... but i was surfing the net at work and stumbled upon this interview with one of the US economists. I am sure some of you have already seen this and have your own opinions regarding it as well.
When i was a bit younger i didn't try to plan ahead too much and listen and read economic forecasts and get myself ready for the future. Mostly because i was single and didn't have to worry about anyone else but me. Now that i am married and have two very young daughters i tend to think and worry about the future. These two dudes cover a lot of things and a lot of them make sense(IMO). This video is pretty long, about 40 minutes. So if you are bored and got nothing else to do or you are running water tests with red Sea Pro master kit then it may be a perfect time to check it out. Just curious what others think about it. It made me somewhat nervous. May be i am just paranoid because i used to live in a different country that went through a worst possible economic collapse.
Anyways just wanted to share what i found interesting.

Yea my cousin is a huge economist and he talks about this stuff all the time. Our kids are going to have a rough time that's for sure.

I try not to get into too much of the doom and gloom, but I do invest a significant portion of my income in some very diverse ways just in case. I used to be the guy that chased the next hottest stock, then I finally read the Bogleheads guide to investing (http://www.amazon.com/Bogleheads-Guide-Investing-Taylor-Larimore/dp/0470067365)

It was suggested reading from someone far more financially savvy than I was at the time. Great read no matter what your experience with finance.

The only other thing you can do beyond that is make sure your kids learn the importance of living within their means from a very young age.

Buy gold and silver on these dips like today. If the global economy tanks you want precious metals on hand. I just started buying silver and im going to start with gold after it comes down a little bit more.
