Ich-- what does it look like

#1
Ok so I have two clowns... these are the clowns I got from my friend in the mail where the female was in next-to-no water in a bag. I believe she injured the left fin on her belly and it has this white appearance, but because she is moving constantly, it is very difficult to get a good view of it for identification. The best way I can describe it is, it looks like she had a nick taken out of her fin and that it was pale/white and not yet healed. But I fear it could also be ich based on the texture and form of the wound. Every once in a while I notice junk on my fish, but it never stays-- I always just figured it was slime or debris or something and usually the next time I walk by the tank, the junk is gone. But her fin has been like this for a few days now.

She's eating, is very active and doesn't appear to be suffering any ill health. Of course, when I want to get a good look at her fin, she's usually indulging in some frogspawn preening or feeding one of the heads some food or she's wobbling around like clowns do without stopping.

I hope I'm just being paranoid but this poor fish...she's been through a lot lately.

If it's ich you'll see light white spots then it will het worse.
So she's definitely had this for a while-- maybe even since I got her-- two weeks ago. I have not noticed anything resembling white spots anywhere else... at least yet. Oh and her gills look fine-- nothing weird there that I can see.

I see... well she definitely does not have spots that look like that ...at least yet. It really only looks like her fin got gnarled up on something and it hasn't healed yet. And the white junk I've seen on her and other fish before looks like they got slimed by something, which is entirely possible as I've been trying to glue frags down and some have sent out protective slime.

You might want to go ahead and put the clowns in hyposalinity (1.010sg). That would help with parasites and other nasties also.
:eek:/ That is something that will take some work as my QT tank is not currently up. I really need to get on setting it up just in case.

If you were fragging, did she get into some glue?
LOL That is entirely possible. LOL I didn't even think of it but yes, it does have that look like glue not-quite-cured that got brushed up against would look like. I just glued their hosting frogspawn to the rock and she digs into the frogspawn all the time.

best I can do is keep an eye out and in the meantime set up a QT tank.

Anyone have a 10 gallon they're selling?

Thanks man... but I'll have to pass, as I'm in Parker. The gas alone would not make it worth the trip. I cruise craigslist and worst case, I'll get a little system from Petsmart.

UPDATE:

So I checked my clowns very closely last night after work as well as my other fish and I think I'm just paranoid and waiting for something bad to happen because of how the fish were shipped (stress-caused illnesses etc). The clowns looked great last night and this afternoon before leaving for work and none of my other fish have any weird spots-- everyone seems happy and healthy.

My sixline, Re-Pete, has developed an attitude with the clowns but I honestly think he's trying to clean them... he never attacks them, though they will chase him, he will return the favor, but they never actually attack. They do touch, though, when the sixline seems to gently bump them.. I'm assuming he's cleaning them, or, he's trying to express his love...not sure which.
