In case you haven’t heard, I’ve been accepted to the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine. So I guess dreams really do come true.
Big dreams also have big costs. By the time I graduate in four years, it will cost $200,000 for tuition, fees, and living expenses. It’s not uncommon for new vets to be in debt for a decade or more before paying off school.
So I’m trying a unique approach to pay for my post-graduate education. I’m willing to contribute two years of volunteer service to Veterinarians Without Boarders or as a Peace Corps Vet if I can raise enough funds to get through school. Another option is to contract with a qualified company for employment after graduation if they will pay tuition & expenses.
My project is called, OCCUPY VET SCHOOL (www.OccupyVetSchool.com). Check out my website to learn about my proposal and how to contribute. There are also lots of fun animal photos from my work at the RioGrand BioPark (a.k.a. Albuquerque Zoo), various vet clinics where I worked, and my own kennel.
Will you will help me get the word out? Here’s what you can do:
1. Email a link to my website (www.OccupyVetSchool.com) to friends, family, and anyone else that might be interested.
2. See my Facebook site (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Occup...14799065271251) and post a comment.
3. Please LIKE both these sites to share with your friends and contacts
If you have time to post a notice about my quest to news outlets (newspapers, TV, and websites), blogs, animal groups, companies or anyone else that could help pass along my message I would really appreciate it.
And, of course, a nice note about what a sweet, hardworking, smart and dedicated woman I am would be appreciated (my dad wrote that J). Thanks so much, and please remember…
Hannah Turner will OCCUPY VET SCHOOL!
PS: And don’t forget to send in your “What Animals Say” photos (check out the website and you’ll get it).
