Why does it seem like all the places that have good coral have odd hours?? Most of my days after 1pm and weekends are hosed. Had a 100 to spend and no place to go this evening.

*sigh* I hate shopping online, but there is never anyone around during the day. Have tried four times and either no answer or no "appointment" that meet my time frames. Again, money to spend on livestock and all the good places have weird hours. Soooo frustrating!

Most of the places with truly great corals run maintenance businesses as well. They need to be working at that time. They also sell coral but, unfortunately, the retail side is a tuff gig to make money at. On line stores are killing the retail stores. Call any of our sponsors and I'm sure you'll be able to find someone to sell you awesome stuff! Keep your money local!

As a business owner I understand competition, and the reason why online is killing retail is because you can order and get what you want when you want it. If you look at the first post it was in March. I have tried five different times at two places since then because I do want to keep it local. I just don't have time to waste like that. Seriously. How hard should it be to SPEND money?

Its really not about the competition, its that there is a whole other side of the business you arent seeing.
But you should try Cris at aquatic art. Maintenance is the main part of his business as well, but his whole fam and a few others that work for him, are usually at his shop. You just need to call him ahead of time and setup an appointment
Gonzo, who is north of you, also will do appointments. You just have to call and arrange it. Both of them are the best in the business and worth the extra effort.
There are also several shops like Elite reef or Aquamart which are fairly close to you, that have regular store hours

Also, talking about Cris. Every time I have called him he will do his best to get someone at the shop for you. He has never disappointed me before, he has some of the best customer service in the area. I would recommend calling him and see if you can setup an appointment, you will not be let down.

Gonzo is the same way. He goes out of his way to make sure we are taken care of.

Stone Aquatics has a new warehouse that is open Wed - Thurs - Fri. Again call them and I am sure Steve will help you out if you need a different time. We had one of our meetings there a few months ago.

wasn't just looking for corals. I can get those from a lot of sources. Was looking for Good quality fish. The best places are hard to get to for me. Tried AA twice. Tried Ambrosia 3 times. The last 3 out of the 4 fish never made it out of QT from Stone. It is VERY difficult with my job to ever plan ahead more than a day. Sometimes I get deliveries or have to pick up supplies south of Denver but it is rare. For me it's just frustrating. Imagine having all your friends say the best place in town to get a meal is "X diner" but it's never open when your around even when they say they will. get it? Just not going to work for me anymore. Tired of chasing people to spend money.

Sounds like you are extremely hard worker and is difficult to get some time? Folks have offered a lot of options for you and we keep getting examples of why you can't. If that busy ALL the time, how do you spend time on your system? Lol. Just sayin, if you can't get away for a couple hours to feed your needs, you aren't giving yourself a break. Hope you find someone who can help you. Sounds like you really wanna get some nice stuff. Know the people who have made suggestions and the suggestions made are what you're lookin for... Give yourself some time to enjoy the great hobby we have here. Good luck and keep on reefing!

To be honest you never mentioned fish only coral. I have to ask did you call Nick from Ambrosia, or Chris from Aquatic Art. Have you contact the owner from Stone Aquatic to let him know that you had lost 3 out of 4 fish you had purchased from him. Maybe he had an issue and if we as the community don't let our suppliers know there is an issue how can they fix it?

I say this because I want to support other people in this hobby and putting out that you tried this store and that store a total of seven times between the two of them without calling to set an appointment we cannot help you much. If you haven't called and talked to Steve but express your displeasure with him about losing 3/4 of the fish you bought from him, is that fair?

I am also a business owner and I would really appreciate a customer or potential customer let me know if there is an issue. Hell depending on their approach to me I would try to help them out with a discount or something for their time.

So are you really trying to get ahold of these shops which are held in high esteem by many in this area or what are you looking for if not? Please let us know how we can support you and if you need me to I will call them for you.

Ask and you may find out, don't ask and you will never know.

I will admit I may have been harsh in this topic, and also likely have had just dumb luck. A bit is likely frustration that I work hard, and it seams I run all to often in this industry as I am made to feel like my money is a matter of their convenience. I unfortunately don't know any of these folks because of either luck or otherwise never get to meet them. I did call stone to talk about the latest fish, but I don't know "steve" I do know whoever he had working the store that day knew very little other than "policies" I understand a lot of folks will defend, and you are likely right to do so. I will not likely ever find out. Sorry for my rants.

Not meant to cause any turmoil many of us will gladly help you out if we can. This hobby is expensive and aggregating at times. When we have stuff to wrong for whatever reason I try to find a reason when in truth it almost always comes vack to me.
Like I said I'm self employed most the year so when i do get down south I call the stores I like and all but one time Cris has accommodated me.
I wish you luck and if you need anything let us all know, I am sure someone has done it.

Ask and you may find out, don't ask and you will never know.
