Not the greatest pic...but the birdnest has taken on a really nice color over the past week. The skeleton has turned yellow with white tips...polyps are nice and purple.

Yea...I think it's my favorite piece in the tank. It's getting blasted by light and flow, and it's just been hardy and happy in my tank from Day 1.

Birdsnests are definitely exploding. The pink-n-green and BOP frags....errr....colonies are intertwined and getting along. ;)

I bid farewell to the tedium of manual dosing...

and the frustration of forgetting to dose one day and having to adjust dosing for the rest of the week to catch back up. :p

Haha! Thanks Chad :pound:

I currently don't have a functioning computer at home, and haven't for over a year now...so sharing my photography was put on hold for a bit. I found a solution though...installed Lightroom at work and do a little post-processing here and there during break. Between 1 year of accumulating shots of fish tanks, portraits, and landscapes during hikes...I have plenty to keep me busy until I DO finally purchase another computer or fix one of mine. ;)

Awesome pics, your tank is looking sweet. How are those dosing pumps working for you? Are they quiet?
So far so good...I just hooked them up over the weekend so their accuracy over time still needs to be determined. They consistently dose though...one is at 0.29ml/s the other is 0.27ml/s; they were advertised as being 0.5, so lower than expected, but as long as they maintain that accuracy I'll be happy.

Noise was a bit annoying the first day, and I was definitely worried by their squeakiness. That noise is gone now though, they got quieter as they broke in...the pumps are only about 7ft from my bed so the fact that they haven't woke me up is a good sign. ;)

I was thinking about making a thread for an ongoing review of them...maybe it'd be worthwhile.

I did just pick them up off ebay, you should be able to find them by searching "marine magic" dosing pump. I paid $110 + $20 for shipping from china...I think they were listed for $130 but I submitted a best offer and the seller met me in the middle and threw in a spare pump. Setup was straightforward, though tedious, and the kit including (almost) enough airline tubing, a pair of check valves, and a tube holder for the edge of the tank.

Also, after 2 days of dosing my levels have been as predictable as they were when I was manual dosing. I had forgotten to dose 1 day last week so my alk dropped from 8.0 to 7.2 and has stayed there for 2 days since hooking the pumps up. I dosed a little extra today and expect the alk to read 7.5 tomorrow when I check...going to use manual mode on the pump the next couples days and should see the alk level slowly come up before stabilizing again once I stop the extra dosing.

My Ca has remained pegged at 405ppm since Sunday...used manual mode to dose an extra 10ppm when I got home, rechecked my Ca and it's at 415ppm like it should be.

Update on the pumps: Caught the slave not working yesterday. I played with the pump head and it seems to be slightly out of alignment with the housing/internal motor. Basically if I "snap" the tabs in place that hold pump head over the shaft, the motor won't turn the pump head. If I lift the left side tab out of it's fitting so that 2 out of the 3 tabs are secured and the pump head is basically sitting at a slight angle (matching the angle of the shaft), everything functions as normal. I'll be in contact with the seller before the end of the week to see how their customer service is. ;) Other than that though, everything is still going well with the dosing pumps.

I'll balance out the slightly bad news with a slightly good picture...
