Nice sticks! Sorry you lost so many. Hopefully I can organize a RockyMountainCorals buy before next year...unless some local sponsors want to bring in the "high end" sticks. (Yes, I know AA has some nice ones)

Results are mixed, lost a lot of coral but 90% of bryopsis is gone and doesnt seem to be coming back as strong. Did a 60 gaalon water change to get my normal levels back.

Unfortunately most of my coral I lost was from AA.

I've been bumping up the Magnesium levels in an sps tank with Tech M and I have noticed less growth but I am nervous about going any higher after reading your post! Maybe I will have to try emerald crabs before I raise Mg any higher. It's currently 1500 and I'm seeing bleaching in the Acros :

Well here is what I can tell you cadre. It wiped out 99% of my algae including bryopsis. I raised my mag to 2000 and just recently started water changes to lower the levels. Your salinity raises with mag so watch that carefully and adjust as needed, i think that is where I fouled up. Raising the mag that will send your salinity to like 1.030 or higher real quick. After the bryopsis starts to die off I manually picked some out and s rubbed with a toothbrush. The tank looks almost back to normal minus my acros:( im ready to start restocking acros slowly and see what happens. If your acros are starting to bleach I would suspect salinity. If you have the option of putting acros in another tank do it. I wish i would have put mine in the fragger earlier. Good luck, keep us posted.

Tech M has it's place, no doubt. I've used Hydrogen Peroxide 3% ($1) for spot treatments. Not good for the whole tank (IMO), but most didn't lose any SPS. Search google for 'pico reef pest algae challenge thread' it's a thread on RC - tons of good info.

Unfortunately, that is the only tank that can support sps. I don't have my frag tanks up yet. The salinity is fine but I did have a Alk swing last week due to a miscommunication, that could easily be the cause of the bleaching as well. Right now I think I will let everything settle out a bit and then maybe I will attempt to eradicate the bryposis again. It has definitely improved since I took over so I can't complain too much!

Peroxide may be an option as well. Fortunately it's not an extensive problem. Thanks!

Yea, I dip frags 100% for just under 2min... Works for me.
I use hydrogen peroxide as well full strength out of the bottle. Seems to take care of any algae on rock or plugs. After dipping in the peroxide I will soak the frag/rock in a container of tank water for another 2-5 minutes to let the peroxide dilute and finish bubbling off. I don't believe hydrogen peroxide coming off a frag or rock in a tank would neccasarily be an issue as I used to use it to introduce extra oxygen into the water in certain situations when I kept freshwater tanks but this is how I do it.
