Making some fish food!

#1
I have recently set up my first tank with a variety of hard and soft corals and I have one Midas Benny. I also take care of a larger tank that has about seven fish and a variety or coral. I'm wanting to make my own fish food that will work for feeding both tanks, does anyone have any recipes or suggestions?

Well since chad narked me out

Lots of mysis shrimp
Cycopeze (freeze dried)
Your choice of flake food (this binds everything)
Cut up the following really small krill, silversides, squid, mussels.
Caviare
Cut up nori really well soak in the food over night
Add powder vitamin c 1 tbsp
Garlic pills (poke a hole in the liquid pills and squeeze it out) about 5-10
Fish oil pills (squeeze this out as well) 5-10
Get some spirulina pills and crush to a fine powder and add that. 1 tsp

I make enough to last me 5-6 months.

Mix all these ingredients and you have the ultimate fish food. Leave in the fridge over night and I use the trays the frozen comes in and re freeze the trays to get the small cubes. My fish love it. You want 70% to be mysis shrimp.

And what does this roughly cost you and how many cubes do you feed a night. I usually feed 2 prime reef cubes, a brine shrimp and a mysis cube a night. By I've got a ton more corals than fish to feed lately. All in all cost me about $15 a month in just frozen food

About 80$ lasts 6 months. I feed 2 cubes a night. It's so heavy that I turn pumps off and all my corals get food

In my opinion, most "DIY food" is already made. It's just a mixing of already prepared food. Flake, Shrimp, sea food, Cycopeze --etc. 09bumblebee's adding of pills is a good twist.

I like to keep the variety up. For fish, I feed flakes in the AM (http://www.kensfish.com/food-feeders.html) and variety of frozen cubes in the PM. I most buy the frozen cubes. I've make my own but it's easier to just buy them for me.

For coral, I like reef chili from BRS, and a big fan of all the kent products (http://www.marinedepot.com/Kent_Marine-Liquid_Fish_Food_Liquid_Coral_Food-KM-FIFDLI-ct.html). No secret recipe.. keep a lot of variety, and mixing it together or adding it separately doesn't make much difference. Don't forget to feed at night for corals, and live food is great too from time to time.
