So it begins.

I started with a 39 gallon Cadlights that currently has 4 frag racks and corals scattered everywhere. I decided I really want a frag tank to keep backup of the corals from the main tank, and then trade and sell anything else extra.

I picked up an ADA 60-P:

Reef Octopus BR-MF-70:

Reef Octopus XP1000SSS:

Two Sicce Syncra Silent pumps (1 2.0 and 1 3.0):

Yes, it's overkill, everything was stupid good deals, so I figured why not.

Additional equipment:

Radion Gen 2 for lighting:

Vortech MP-10W ES:

Tunze 3155 Osomolator:

Black shelf open rack for ease of use in the basement:

More to come on Monday!

Re: Munch's frag-tank buildout

Where did you get the ADA 60-P? Is it drilled or you going to drill it?

Here's what he had setup with it. He took it down last year and I picked up his tank and sump setup.

Are you going to sell the 39 gallon cad lights? :)

Unfortunately the Cadlights will remain in action as I just sold my Oceanic 57 that I was contemplating setting up.

Day 2

Plumbing

I really wanted all black PVC, with the dark grey Cepex valves, but really couldn't justify it on a tank sitting in my unfinished basement. Quick trip to Lowe's would rectify the situation:

Here's the Tank, rescued from another local reefer, the ADA 60-P, already drilled:

[attachment=63737:name]

He also had a really nice Sump, all-be-it a big large for an 18 gallon, but who's to complain!

[attachment=63738:name]

He had the Reef Octopus XP1000-SSS, rated upto a 125 gallon tank. I think my fish poop in my 18 gallon ADA stands no chance
Here's the skimmer compared to the "frag" tank:

Third chamber on the sump has a built in turf scrubber!

I had to pick a spot in the basement. I'm hoping to finish to basement in the next few years, but for now, it'll goto next to the workout tv. My other passion is racing Ducati motorcycles, so excuse the mess

Small table to be setup next to the tank for gear:

I wanted a black 3 shelf stand just like this chromed one, but it was out of stock locally, I may swap that out in a bit. But for now, the old stand will have to do. I started drilling for plumbing, based on his existing holes. Side hole for over-flow and bottom hole for feed:

Return and drain:

oh man that sump and skimmer setup is super killer for that tank! this is going to be a zoa dominated tank ya? Wonder what super skimming will result for growth. Be a good test of the myth of zoas liking dirty water.

I'm not sure what's going in it to be honest. I'm hoping to keep it a mix reef frag central :)

Plumbing is dry fitted, pics to come tonight...
