We had an attempted entry today. Seems like the dog scared them off, but the wifey is freaking out still. I think the thieves unlocked the deadbolt. Meanwhile, the dog tore apart the blinds while trying to eat the burglar(s).
Talked to the neighbors, seems like this is a reoccurring issue for them. They've been hit twice. Our neighbors across the hall got hit during the holiday season.
I bought and installed some window lock things and longer screws to attach the strike plates to the 2x4's (as opposed to just the 1x4 piece of trim).
What else can I do? I'd like something where I can add an extra layer of security that I can access from the outside, as they seem to be breaking in during the morning hours while most everyone goes to work. Does anyone know how to install a security latch for an in swing door?
Seems like they have the place pretty cased out as they even know the college students class schedules.
