Hey all. Apparently the marine velvet that killed almost all of my fish in March is being hosted by the wrasses in our tanks, so I need to borrow a fish trap and haul them all out of there. The tanks have to lay completely fallow for a month until it dies off. Please, if you have a fish trap that you aren't using, let one of us (either me or majicmike) know.

I would start using some bottles. Will be LNG process but until you can find traps it worth a shot. Also drilling small holes instead of slits works better from my experience.

sorry to hear about the tank wipeout...been there, done that...I see the Fenninator suggests longer fallow...google "wetwebmedia marine velvet"...Leaving the tank "fallow" (without fish hosts) for 6 to 8 weeks. This process can be sped up by elevating water temperature. A figure stated by Bower (1987) is perhaps 2 weeks at 35 C. (95 F.).

Hey Cindy if you guys still need one. I have one but it needs a new trap door. If you guys have something handy to use like a piece of acrylic to cut for it you can use it. Let me know.
