Hey guys!
Am needing some advice on some purchases I am about to make...

Aiptasia Laser--recommended wattage? And....is there such a thing as too powerful?

PAR meter...is the one from BRS any good?

Mucho thanks for any input!

I don't know anything about the Laser, Chad might chime in, as he has one.

Par Meter, yes the one from BRS is pretty much the standard, but you can just buy the sensor, and use a volt meter to read it ( save about $200 depending on the volt meter you buy ). I have one, and it is the same as the one that the club owns in our rental program. http://www.apogeeinstruments.com/sq-120-electric-calibration-quantum-sensor/
Sorry to jack your thread SquidBreath but just curious what volt meter FishTV uses with this sensor and if he is happy with it? I have been looking for a cheap par meter and this may work for me.

Apogee is the same company, and that is the same sensor that they use in the unit BRS sells, the only difference is you have to multiply your volt reading (mV) by your sensors multiplier. In my case the multiplier is 5 ( the sensor comes with a tag that tells you the multiplier ) so if i get a reading of 79 mV on my meter, its 395 PAR. The Unit that BRS sells just does the math, and display's the PAR.

I used to have an 1800mw laster. Its a cool toy and that's about it. It's possible to get rid of some aiptasia if you can get just the right angle but most the time you will just cause them to spread even more.
