New fish from About Fish

So I got a new fish today from About Fish off on Federal and 72. The fish looked good at the shop but the water was cloudy from a water change so was kind of hard to see. The shop owner said it had been there for a month so I figured that was long enough for ich to take its course. I bring the fish home, I set up a 10 gallon tank for the quarantine process and I notice the fish is till panicked, breathing hard. It's been floating the whole time so no shock. As I inspect the fish I notice a small white bubble on its gil. I tried to take a picture of it but it wouldn't really let me. The pictures I did take revealed many white dots that I couldn't see before so I'm not sure if it's the flash or just bad eyes. Do you think it's ich? Kinda paranoid about it after reading all these horror posts lately.

It is kind of hard to tell, for sure-- but based on my own paranoid research, I'd say it's ich, too. :( Sucks... hope you can treat him in your QT.

Yeah I'm sure I can take it back but this might be good practice and help save him. I'll see how I feel in the morning lol

Definitely ich. Either use copper or hypo salinity in your QT to treat. Congrats on having a QT for your critters!

I have used tanks with copper afterword for non qt aquariums without issue. Of course they were rinsed and dried first. I would do both hypo and copper. Make sure you maintain the copper level. If it drops below the levels necessary to kill ich, it will no longer be effective. Quinine sulfate is used on copper resistant strains of ich. I actually prefer quinine sulfate. Medication time is shorter and proper levels are easier to maintain.

Gotta be careful about Marc's fish. He doesn't quarantine which is one of the reasons his prices are decent.
Glad you're going to try and save the guy. Look at his fins. That's one of the easiest places to look for the
appearance of ich. Yours is pretty peppered but I'll bet you can still save him.

Dude, hypo is easy to maintain, it was for my little clown anyways. Did 2 months, then pow, ich free and swimming in my cube. Easy, peezy, lemon squeezey!

Sweet fish BTW, what is that guy? Royal gramma?
