The tires will cost about 200 bucks. The rear jack work??? And the cosmetic stuff... I'm thinking of offering 900 to start as it needs at least 300 of work to start and the other 100 for bargaining room. Or is this totally out of line. Never purchased anything like this.

Not a bad price try to set it up and test everything first. New tires will run around 200 so depending on how bad they are thats a consideration also pay attention to the bed rails and check for damage there. In general they are really easy to fix up and reapair

Pop up camper ?

Am I out of line with a 900 offer? I could put new flooring down and make new curtains. Mainly concerned with the mechanical stuff I suppose. Operation and such.

Seems pretty reasonable... They cost about 350 to rent for a week. I could use it for a summer and get the $ back probably.

That's a great price for a popup. Maybe talk to some of the local camper places about them, ask what the usual repairs are that they see, what those cost, etc. If it were me, I'd look closely for issues with the rails, like Scott said, and for gashes in the screens, problems with the zippers, etc.

$900 is pretty close to lowball. I'd say he's priced it with the repair costs in mind already. But that's just me.

I don't wanna low ball for sure! My wife worked with the lady who is selling once upon a time. Maybe just take 200 off the asking then. I'll operate everything to check for reasonable workability. Good idea on calling a local dealer. The rails are what hold the beds up I assume?

I have owned a few different campers but never a popup. I would guess you would want to check over the material structure thoroughly for potential problems; Any repairs? zippers work? He said no leaks, so thats good. And I usually ask early if the price is firm or if they would entertain an offer. Good way to feel them out without offending.

Yep beds hold the rails. I wouldnt worry about the jacks if they are old style would be worth replacing with something newer anyways. Also do a water test just hook up the system to a water hose and watch. Electrical in there is pretty simple and not a ton goes wrong but a deep cycle battery would test it fast to makre sure the converter is good if you are worried.

The battery is new apparently.

What's it cost for plates on these things? Do I need insurance?

It depends on the year. We have a 1998 Coleman Camper pop-up and plates are around 90 dollars and the insurance is around 10 a month. By the way, 1,000 would be a great deal if everything works and all you need to worry about is the floor and curtains.

Plates are usually cheap on smaller units like this. My toy hauler was $284 for plates when I first got it. Insurance Yes (and wise IMO). What is your tow vehicle? (Please for the love of f*** don't say Prius, or the like)

Tow vehicle is a Subaru outback. I know that this is all it could tow. It's an 8 foot box.

Ask if the lift cable has been replaced or if it's the original. Because eventually that will fail and it's going to fail at the worst time. So you might want to replace that if it hasn't been done already. Look for water damage and check the roof and floor for soft spot. Wheel bearings need to be greased. Check the electrical and furnace to make sure it L works.

Pop up camper ?

It was in just ok shape when I saw it. It had been used as a hunting cabin and left up for a couple winters. The top was sagging quite a bit. I'm looking at another(exact same thing) this evening if all goes well. I'll check out the lift as well. Thanks!!!

Here's another pop up. We're looking at it this evening. One thing I have noticed is that the NADA Blue book prices seem to be way lower than the asking prices of everything older than about 2002. Is this an indication that the book is way off or that many Melpomene are reeeeeealy proud of their campers? Nada suggests $1250 for this camper and they are asking $2200...

Everything is about 2x or 2000 dollars more in Colorado. Prices are really inflated here. I'm not going to buy my camper here. I'm looking out of state to get a more reasonable price and most bang for my buck.

I sense a business opportunity here... buy campers out of state for cheap & bring them here to sell for not cheap!
