So its now been about 3 months since our house sitter dumped about 8-10 TBS of my wife's hand lotion in my tank. Id say considering what happened its bounced back pretty well. I took a few shots last night with a basic point and shoot some of them came out fairly decent. The full tank shot at the bottom came out weird. I just cant seem to get a good full tank shot they either come out super saturated and shifted way to the magenta side or totally washed out.

Someday I will get a real camera.

These were taken under a 20k Radion preset.

Many have still not fully colored up again or just came back brown like the red planet on sand. Its growing well its even starting to grow out across the sand bed (kinda cool I didn't know they did that) and have good PE but so far no luck with getting the colors back. For all I know it will never color up again. I keep moving it around the tank to see if one place works better than another but even thats hard because there is no rhyme or reason to my rock work or coral placement. I have ripped this thing apart so many times it now just kind random pile of crap.

It has been my learning tank, that was always its intended purpose so sometimes I just have to remind my self of that and not worry so much about everything that's wrong with it.

Looking good...things have colored up for sure since the last time I stopped by.

I hear you on the "learning tank" concept. I treated my cube the same way, but sometimes get frustrated and want to bang my head on a wall when I can't solve a problem. It's nice to be able to step back once in a while and appreciate that even a little success with SPS in these nanos is an accomplishment.

Kudos to you for being diligent and bringing your corals back to life!

I definitely wanted to chuck the whole thing after it happened. I almost did a couple times. I really am truly amazed it pulled through that. I wish I had taken pictures of what it looked like all bleached out with several corals showing signs of STN. I did have two SPS corals that completely RTNed, a red milli and some other no name acro.

Your corals must hate getting the hose again.

Apparently Cindy is correct, they just needed a little TLC
It put the lotion on its skin or it gets the hose again! Nice lol

The pictures are fairly close but not a 100% accurate representation of the colo,r they are a bit saturated. The funny part is my acros actually have more color in person and the monties have a bit more color in the pics.

Thanks! You gotta love the hairless..... well you know.
BWAAAAHAHAHAHA!!!

And coloagro is right- that downstairs build is both art and beauty. So pristine that I wondered if I should put on shoe covers before entering.

I'm considering lotion dosing, would you recommend Aveeno or something more fragrant like Ocean Breeze from Bath & Body Works?

I know salt water drys the skin, but how or why did the house sitter lotion the tank?
Well its kind of a funny story My wife and I where in Minessota for Thanksgiving and everytime we are out of town we hire a house sitter to stay at our place to take care of our animals. She had taken care of the tank before and did a good job. My wife started her own line of skin care products and had used 4 of my pee cups to test out differnt fragrances. She had them numbered 1-4 the same number of days we were having her watch the house. I showed her how to feed the tank using a pee cup on the counter to mix water, frozen, food, amino acids, etc before dumping it in. Well you can see where this is going. She somehow found the pee cups with the lotion samples and though "hmmm 1-4 I guess he wants me to use these" And there you have it.

Great looking corals!
Is that a Miami Orchid in your first picture?
Thanks! Honestly I have no idea what it is. It was a brown turd when i got it with no name. I got it for free as a practice acro about 5 months ago and its actually turning into something pretty cool. The pictures dont show how electric blue the tips are. The last half inch of the tips go from a periwinkle color to bright blue then white. The base is starting to turn a combination of light pinks and greens. That puple digi you gave me awhile back just grows like a weed i must have given away 6 pieces at this point.
