They do not deactivate they only set off alarms so that the cashiers now they missed one. Bad idea to try, better I idea to wear your old ones tomorrow and stop by the store on your way home, then bitch that you had to drive all the way back and they will probably give you a discount or some kind of promo. I use to work in retail and you don't want to try to take those apart

I didnt read through the whole so forgive me if this has already been said, Cut the prong thats holding them together. Should be a smalk metal prong that goes through the material and holds the device together. Simply cut that. I had the same happen with a t shirt i bought in estes park, needless to say i was not driving back, i simply cut the prong and nothing happened. Its defective, or it would have went off when you left the store.

Thanks, did this. It went off :( good news though, it didn't pack a punch. This was the damage.

Sorry I missed this...there's a flaw to those ink tags.

Put them in the freezer and when they break they won't make a mess.

:)Maybe..lol
Haha! No, I worked at Nordstrom to pay for school...that was their reason for not bothering with ink tags. Also made it less likely to build a case and catch shoplifters, as most repeat offenders would steal a bunch and try to return it for easy money...which is when they were caught. Nobody returns clothes with ink stains. ;)
