Salifert or Hanna?

I just tested my CA with both my salifert (expires 4-13) and my hanna checker.
did the salifert twice and came up with 250ppm
did the hanna and it was 478,

sooooooo which one do I believe?

i dunno i have both ...and they were pretty close when i checked them

your welcome to come over and test against mine ... which one seems reasonable for your tank? ...i would say salifert but it hanna seems more appropriate result?

I'm willing to guess the Hanna is correct, did you contaminate any reagents? Not screw the lid tight enough? Old/expired tests/reagents? what would usually be normal for your tank?

The Hanna is fairly new, and i always make sure to screw the lids on tight on both kits.
I have only used the Hanna once or twice before and if memory serves it was reading higher than the salifert before.

Don I might take you up on that, at least have a baseline to work with.

wonder if i try testing with straight RO water, that should have 0 CA in it but I dont remember if either test goes that low

So being sick and stuck at home I found that there is a calibration kit for the meter. I got it today and the meter is dead on. so needless to say my Salifert is now in the trash. Don can still swing by, ill bring the cal kit lol
