salinity salt

#1
Cris Capp got in a few buckets of salinity salt on the last salt order so i thought i would give it a try.I mixed it for two hours and tested it.I got 440 calcium...DKH was 12.5..this was higher then i thought it would be so i tested it again and got the same results. The magnesium was 1350.I tested these all with salifert test kits.I will have to see how it affects the tank if at all over some time but other then the higher alk reading i like the numbers-Kieth

So do they match the readings on the bucket?

Everything but the dkh..the bucket reads 8.5..i read in another thread that mixing it longer lowers the dkh so maybe that has some bearing on it.It says on the bucket to mix 24 hours...i dont tend to do that very often so that could have affected it-Kieth

I just changed the water and one other thing i noticed is that it clouds the tank a bit more then other brands of salts i have used in the past ie: reef crystals, instant ocean and seachem reef salt. This may also be caused by mixing it only 2 hours. The next time i mix it i will do it for 24 hours and retest it-Kieth

Hey Don, I never ended up hiring anyone anyway. I was a little ahead of myself when i posted that ad for help. We are hoping to get the warehouse fully operational and open by the end of October, keep your fingers crossed for us!

I sell 225g buckets of Salinity salt for $85 (plus tax) if anyone is interested, no minimum order.
