No...I won't support that kind of business. Think it's ridiculous that people pay those kind of prices.

Lots of controversy over that guy. Some on R2R love him and swear by him others think his pics are super saturated and PhotoShopped to the hilt. I personally would never pay that much but then again I know id eventually kill it. lol

He does in fact use Photoshop:

Y-Resolution = 180/1 ===> 180
X/Y-Resolution Unit = inch (2)
Software / Firmware Version = Adobe Photoshop CS4 Macintosh
Last Modified Date/Time = 2011:12:25 06:21:37
Y/Cb/Cr Positioning (Subsampling) = centered / center of pixel array (1)

EXIF Sub IFD

EXIF Version = 0230
Components Configuration = 0x01,0x02,0x03,0x00 / YCbCr
FlashPix Version = 0100
Colour Space = sRGB (1)
Image Width = 762 pixels
Image Height = 600 pixels

EXIF IFD1

Compression = JPEG compression (6)
X-Resolution = 72/1 ===> 72
Y-Resolution = 72/1 ===> 72

How much or what he does in photoshop is unknown. What I do know is that corals sold at a wholesale level are typically sold by the grade of coral, "ultra" being the highest. Ultra corals are pricey, even at a wholesale. How expensive, no FN way its even close to $1500 for a COLONY.

I liked your first post better, R2R is a cesspool, and in no way ran in the best interest of the hobbyists who go there....

the Wholesalers are now selling the good stuff at retail, making the LFS have to raise there prices so high nobody wants to buy

I had a wholesaler last week that wanted $100 for wellsos and $90 for clove polyps WHOLESALE !!!

capitalism at its best, no one is making you pay it and there are other options, so if people order from them then great for them. for an item that is "one of a kind" I can completely understand.

All I know is that the ocean didn't just create that new rare piece yesterday. The hot stuff is more expensive but I remember superman montipora used to be be $100 for a 1/4 inch piece. The photoshopping is what's unethical. The prices can be whatever until people stop paying. Also LFS have a ton of competition with online retailers and fellow hobbyist.

And someone will make a name for it and becomes the next must have. Sad that the hobby has come to that. I feel sorry for the LFS.
