Theft at Aquamart

#1
On Sunday afternoon, a man in his mid 30s came into Aquamart. He had a child with him, approximately two years old. He did a good amount of shopping, selecting a couple of fish and several pieces of coral for purchase. We had bagged up enough things for him that he required a styrofoam box to pack his livestock in. His goodies were packed up and upon ringing up his purchase, he asked if he could carry his box out to his vehicle and strap his child in. I am sure most of you can guess what happened next. He loaded his kid up, put his box in his truck, and drove away.
I am sure there is blame to go around everywhere. We trust the people in the community enough to give them a little bit of freedom. You guys have lives outside of the hobby and sometimes have a schedule to keep. It is just a shame that we cannot trust everyone with something as simple as paying for your purchase.
As mentioned, the customer was a male with a child in tow. He drove an SUV/crossover of sorts. The vehicle had a spare tire on the back. It was black in color and had chrome running boards. This information was passed onto me so I don't have more details at this point. This is a great community with many great people. And it isn't that large of a community. If anyone knows this person, please tell them to do the right thing. And to other stores around town, please be careful. Even some of you that sell out of your homes!
Thanks everyone.

we had problems in cali with this sort of crap... best thing that happened was all of the shops had video security. Video of thieves got posted to craigslist and forums so every shop owner knew about them.. Most people frequent LFS especially if they have a tank... once one person is banned from shopping everywhere, people rethink about what they are getting themselves into and how fast their hobby will suffer.

That's disgusting. Hopefully this guy gets caught somehow...will definitely be keeping my eye out for that vehicle whenever I visit local shops.

Perhaps you should give us a list of what was taken so folks can be scoping for the items in case they try to sell them on CL or something. that's assuming they are not dumb enough to post them up here.

Wow wow wow!!!!!! I'm sorry to hear of this AquaMart team!!!! Its ashamed we have fellow hobbyists doing these kind of things!!! Certainly we will all be on the look out for this individual at the stores we visit and at our own meetings.

Please keep us posted with any more info you have and or any pics or video. Well get it posted on here and on our FaceBook page. Furthermore if we ever learn of this individual being a MASC member they will be banned immediately and any info we have will be turned over to you guys and the police.

I'm sorry to hear this. I also agree in a cheap DVR, even a $200-300 unit from costco pointed at your front door would catch their face.

Theft at Aquamart

How much did they get? Could we do a fund raiser to help out? I don't often get down that far but sure would be willing to help out...

Or, maybe just encourage us to go buy some stuff? What do people think?

Yes, please get us the best description ya can, to include what they stole so we can be on the lookout for it. I can put together an info page and get that posted up so the other stores in the area can print it off and have it handy for their staff. And if we do a fundraiser, maybe the goal would be to get a surveillance system for you guys. I'm a member at Costco, so I can do the actual purchase if we go that route.

that blows. maybe you can go to some of the neighboring stores and check their cameras. Also get in contact with the police about searching the cameras at the intersection. most people come or go thru that light. Another thought is maybe they went to Reef Ed and someone ha pics from Saturday. If you happen to get any footage, please post
