I don't think it's an aqcropora type coral. When the polyps are not extended, the branches are almost totally smooth.

yes they are mean.

It can't sting you, however they are extremely aggressive if near other corals. I call this a Medium Polyp Stony coral (MPS) because it doesn't have defined polyps or corallites. They can be branching, encrusting or plating in growth form!
