I'm considering the idea of adding a fish. If I take a water sample to LFS and have them test ammonia, and the test result checks out, do you think it would be safe to go ahead?

I'd say that if you're water test comes out negative for ammonia, then absolutely go for it. It's the next step for getting the "balance" going and building that bacterial population up.

Not sure yet. Needs to be small and not a jumper. I'm going to let my wife and daughter take the driver's seat on this decision. I'll just be there to make sure it is something appropriate for the tank. Hopefully we can find something cool! Still taking suggestions.

Tailspot blennies are cool and have a lot of personality. Clown gobys might be a cool addition as well. I'm not sure on the jumping behavior of any of these though.
We are getting ready to head out on family trip to LFS. On second thought, probably won't entirely rule out jumpers. I can always make a screen top. Might be helpful with preventing any unwanted 'additions' to the reef by my daughter aka stuffed animals or toys lol.
Finally got the correct Sicce pump. This one moves a little bit more water (158 gph vs 132 gph) than the stock pump. I'm going to keep both pumps in my expense list. I updated 1st post with cost breakdown to date. I'll tuck away the stock pump as a backup.

I've been running tank with no lights since adding the fish. No corals yet so no big deal. I cleaned filter pad today for the first time. I moved the light so it's mounted to section with pump and heater. Otherwise I have to remove it each time to clean the filter and access media section.

Today I added a red legged hermit crab and a few zoa frags. Everthing came from my 90 gallon system. I'll have to figure out what to expense for these additions.

Turned the AI prime back on to run schedule.
I have some uglies going on. I believe diatoms. Tank is due for some maintenance. Water change, clean filter pad etc. I'll try to get some updated photos tomorrow.
